They saw the potential for their website to be a real advocate for their patients, by making it an interactive, human experience for them, and one that would make them see and feel how they would be treated even before they arrived.
It’s only human nature for patients to experience anxiety before a treatment or a procedure. What if shields could use the power of video on the website to allow patients to go through a treatment, virtually, as it will be done on the day of their visit?
BuzzFlix worked hand-in-hand with Shields to produce three video virtual tours and ‘body-map’ video-interviews with some of the foremost experts in their fields, for MRI, CT scan, and Radiation Oncology. A patient can now log on to the shields site and experience his or her treatment, as it will occur from the time they drive up to the building right through completion. They’ll ‘meet’ the staff member who will be greeting them, the technicians who will treat them, and the doctors who will be in charge of their treatments and recovery. All by following a patient through the entire treatment process.
Patients can also click on a model of the human body to find their particular area of concern, and watch a Shields specialist explain their options for the various treatment modalities offered at Shields Healthcare.
The results have been gratifying to say the least. Patients report that these tours really do lower their pre-treatment anxiety! The Shields website has won awards for its ability to connect in a more human, interactive way with patients-one that has changed the patient experience in a very positive way.
